Diese Bande wird nur sinnvoll, wenn sie zusammen mit ihren benachbarten Peaks gelesen wird. In der Praxis sehen Analysten zunächst die obigen Zuordnungen an und prüfen dann, ob dieselbe Probe auch andere für dasselbe Strukturmotiv erwartete Peaks zeigt. Eine einzelne Bande nahe 1200 cm⁻¹ reicht normalerweise nicht für eine Materialidentifikation allein aus.
