Questa banda diventa significativa solo se letta insieme ai picchi vicini. In pratica, gli analisti prima esaminano le assegnazioni sopra, poi verificano se lo stesso campione mostra anche altri picchi attesi per lo stesso motivo strutturale. Una banda isolata vicino a 1200 cm⁻¹ di solito non è sufficiente per l＇identificazione del materiale da sola.

- Saltare la convalida quando additivi, miscele, ossidazione o contaminazione possono distorcere lo spettro.
Consiglio di verifica
Quando permangono ambiguità, convalida l＇ipotesi con DSC, GC-MS o TGA, specialmente per miscele, campioni degradati e polimeri caricati.
