Compare the sample specifically against authenticated spectra of ester-containing acrylic materials, amide/lactam-containing polymers, and urethane-containing coatings, since those classes are more consistent with the observed functional groups than a chlorine-led assignment. If the material identity is important, confirm with complementary analysis such as Raman spectroscopy, pyrolysis-GC/MS, or NMR to determine whether the sample is a polymer, coating, or mixed organic formulation.
