Instead of sending every spectrum to a website, Local behaves like a conventional instrument-software companion: it sits on the same computer, reads original vendor files, and keeps the reference library and project records on site.

- Receive the download and activation key by email.
- Install on the instrument computer and activate it — online or by offline activation file.
Local is offline; Connect is networked
These are two different deployment options and should not be confused. Local runs the analysis on your own workstation with no internet connection. Connect uses a dedicated instrument terminal to reach FTIR.fun online from a restricted network.

License activation
FTIR.fun Local is installed on the instrument computer. Online download is not available: contact support to obtain the installer, then activate with your license key.
Online or offline activation
For online activation, enter the Activation Key inside FTIR.fun Local. For an air-gapped workstation, create an activation request file in the application and upload it below.
Privacy and data boundary
Raw spectrum files, full curves, local reference libraries, project metadata, sample IDs and local file paths stay on the workstation.
Strict Offline mode blocks non-local network destinations and performs no telemetry, analytics, crash reporting or update checks.
Only an explicit Peak Assignment or Literature Evidence action can send selected peak positions and optional context after a preview.
